Librarian required at Secondary School based in Old Trafford

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join the team as a Librarian at our Client Secondary School based in Old Trafford. As a Librarian, you will play a crucial role in fostering a love for reading and promoting information literacy among all students.

The school is situated in the heart of Old Trafford, just a 5-minute walk from local bus and tram stops making it easily accessible for those travelling via public transport. There is also an onsite car park for members of staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school library and ensure it is well-organized and conducive to learning.
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date collection of books, periodicals, and other educational resources.
  • Assist students in locating and selecting appropriate reading materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in conducting research and utilising library resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
  • Conduct regular library orientations and workshops to enhance students' information literacy skills.
  • Foster a positive reading culture by organizing book clubs, author visits, and other literary events.
  • Stay updated with current trends in literature, educational technology, and library management practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of library transactions, including borrowing and returning of materials.
  • Ensure the library operates within budgetary constraints.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
  • Previous experience working as a librarian or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital cataloguing tools.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools used for research and information retrieval.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • Passion for literature and promoting reading among young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
