Level 2 Teaching Assistant – Roman Catholic Primary School, Leigh
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (potential for permanent placement)
Salary: Pay-to-Scale, dependent on experience and qualifications

A caring and inclusive Roman Catholic primary school in Leigh is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their welcoming school community. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing within a nurturing, faith-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning and development, ensuring every child can access the curriculum.
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions tailored to pupils’ specific needs.
  • Encourage positive learning behaviours and help children build confidence and independence.
  • Support the creation of engaging classroom resources and displays that celebrate pupils’ achievements and reflect the Catholic ethos.
  • Provide practical help during lessons, transitions, and outdoor activities to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCo to monitor pupil progress and share insights on effective strategies.

Educator Requirements:

  • Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Possesses or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (can be processed through Teaching Personnel).
  • Ideally has prior experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) in a school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Shows empathy, patience, and adaptability when responding to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Is supportive of and respectful toward the Catholic values and mission of the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
