Level 2 Teaching Assistant 
Location: Blackburn with Darwen
Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 3:20pm
Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm
Pay: £13.00 – £13.75 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team within a secondary Alternative Provision in Blackburn with Darwen. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people who may face barriers to learning.

What is an Alternative Provision?
Alternative Provisions are specialist educational settings that support pupils who are unable to attend mainstream school. This may be due to behavioural challenges, social, emotional or mental health needs (SEMH), or other factors affecting their ability to learn in a traditional classroom environment. These settings provide a more tailored and supportive approach to education, helping students to re-engage with learning and build confidence.

Your role will include:

  • Providing in-class support to pupils across a range of subjects

  • Supporting students with additional needs, both academically and emotionally

  • Working closely with the class teacher to deliver targeted interventions

  • Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment

  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging engagement in learning

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification

  • Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally in a school or care setting

  • Is confident, patient, and able to manage behaviour in a calm and consistent way

  • Has excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

  • Is passionate about helping students succeed, regardless of their background or challenges

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
