An Special Educational Needs school located in Basingstoke are looking for a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to assist in supporting their staff and special needs pupils with various moderate to severe and complex needs. These needs include physical and learning difficulties, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with special needs. There will be students who struggle with communication, so a qualification or experience in Makaton or PEC's will be beneficial. The Teaching Assistant will also:
- Be able to multitask and have the flexibility to help in a variety of situations.
- Be happy to work in small groups and on a one to one basis.
- Show resilience when dealing with challenges
- Be able to support class teachers with implementing individual healthcare plans for each pupil
- Assist in all classroom activities
A typical school day will start at 08:30 and finish at 15:30. The TA will need to get involved with the pupils right from the start, and demonstrate a positive approach. The role will also be suited to those with a background in health and social care. Those who are interested will be welcome to spend a trial day at the school, upon undergoing a mandatory vetting process
