SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan
Agency: Teaching Personnel

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist school in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs
  • Support the delivery of tailored learning activities in line with EHCP targets
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to support engagement and wellbeing
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and adapt support strategies
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN is essential (school, care, or support setting)
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA) are desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
