Learning Support Assistant
Working Hours: Term-time only, 30 hours per week, 8.30am to 3.00pm, to include INSET days, plus 30 hours to be worked flexibly across the year
Location: Darlington
Contract: Temporary or Temporary to Permanent options considered
Start: after February half-term
To work with students who may have special educational needs, educational health care plans or those who have been disrupted significantly by COVID-19, the school are seeking to recruit a learning support assistant to start after February half-term or sooner if you have availability.
On behalf of the school, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who has a genuine desire to support and better the lives of vulnerable young people aged 11-16. It is important that you have good literacy and numeracy skills and are passionate about your own continual professional development.
The main duties include:
- Assisting teachers in delivering the curriculum by ensuring that pupils understand the aims, tasks and outcomes of a lesson
- Supervising and assisting individual and small groups of pupils in and out of the classroom with activities planned by the teacher.
- Assisting teachers with testing, assessment and recording of the behaviour and the progress of pupils.
- Preparing classroom materials including differentiation of materials to support pupils’ learning.
- Attend and contribute to regular planned staff meetings and in-service sessions.
- Taking responsibility, in accordance with school Policy and County regulations for pupils off site when assisting with visits or trips.
- Performing any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post, including break time duties, invigilation of examinations and supervision of After School activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
