About the School
A DfE registered independent school which caters for boys and girls with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.
Typically students will present with behaviour that challenges, some will have associated learning difficulties and almost all children will have encountered negative educational experiences or disruption, and consequently lack confidence in their own abilities.
They help develop young people's emotional well-being and social skills. The aim is to develop students to be effective learners so they are able to cope better with the things they find challenging. As a school, they do this through a focus on establishing positive and healthy relationships, emotional well-being and developing social skills.
Ideal Candidate
- Have experience working in an SEMH setting
- That are resilient
- Flexible
- Can think on their feet
- Team Teach trained (desirable)
Learning Support Assistant Duties
- Interact with, and support pupils, according to individual needs and skills
- Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate
- Establish positive relationships with pupils supported
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
- Support pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy skills
- Support the use of ICT in the classroom and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use
- To attend to pupils’ personal needs including help with social, welfare, care and health matters
- Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task
- Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required
- Assist with the development and implementation individual targets
