Here at Teaching Personnel, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Advanced Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team and play a key role in delivering high-quality support to students with additional learning needs.

About the role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement support strategies tailored to individual learners. You will provide targeted academic, emotional, and behavioural support, helping to raise achievement and promote positive outcomes across all key stages.

This is a rewarding and dynamic role for someone who is proactive, skilled in inclusive practice, and committed to improving life chances for young people.

Key Responsibilites 

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.

  • Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.

  • Assist in planning and adapting classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.

  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress and behaviour, feeding back to staff and parents/carers as appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support services to implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.

  • Support transitions, both within school and between educational settings.

  • Contribute to the development of inclusive teaching resources and strategies.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional learning needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.

  • A relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g. Supporting Teaching and Learning, Child Development, or equivalent).

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and behaviour management skills.

  • Empathy, patience, and a positive, solution-focused approach.

  • Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

What you'll need:

  • Level 3 teaching/support qualification or higher 
  • Previous experience working in a UK school (preferred) 
  • Enhanced Child workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
