Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEND / SEMH
Location: Liverpool
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term placements
Pay Rate: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Learning Support Assistants on behalf of a Multi-Academy Trust located in Liverpool. These full-time, long-term roles are based across specialist SEN and secondary settings, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, ASD, ADHD, and complex learning difficulties.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with SEND and helping them achieve both educational and personal success. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide consistent, nurturing support that enables pupils to thrive.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 or small group support in line with individual pupil needs

Support pupils with SEN, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
-
Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans
-
Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
-
Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour approaches
-
Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress and report back to staff
-
Support with personal care where required and appropriate
-
Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
About You
You may have experience working within a SEND or education setting, particularly supporting children with complex needs. Above all, you will be patient, empathetic, and motivated to make a genuine difference. This role suits someone with energy, resilience, and a reflective approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
Essential Requirements

Experience working with children or young people (education, care, or support setting)

Experience within a UK education setting

A positive, flexible, and patient approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to adapt to different school environments

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
-
Right to work in the UK
-
GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Desirable
-
NVQ Level 2 or 3 (Teaching Assistant, Childcare, NNEB, or equivalent)
-
Experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour
-
Safeguarding or Team Teach training
-
Good understanding of child protection and safeguarding

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
