Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives? We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to support pupils in a specialist provision supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is not your typical classroom role — every day is different, bringing new challenges, rewards, and opportunities to positively impact a child’s development.
About the Provision
Portfield provides a nurturing, structured, and highly personalised environment for pupils with:
- Autism (ASD)
- Complex learning needs
- Social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
- Communication challenges ️
The school focuses on supporting the whole child, helping them grow emotionally, socially, and academically in a safe, supportive setting.
What Your Day May Look Like
No two days are the same in this role! You could be:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
- Helping deliver adapted and engaging lessons
- Managing behaviour with a calm, positive approach ✅
- Providing emotional support and reassurance
- Assisting with personal care where needed
- Taking part in sensory activities, outdoor learning, or life skills sessions
Flexibility and resilience are key — you’ll need to think on your feet and adapt to the needs of each student.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:
- SEN experience
- Care or support work
- Youth work or mentoring
- Healthcare or residential support

- Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
✅ Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
- EWC registration or willingness to apply
- Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
