Learning Support Assistant

Here at Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit a LSA for a well known school in the Gateshead area. The role will be to work specifically with a number of pupils with SEND issues who require additional support on their learning journeys. The majority of your time will be spent outside of the classroom in small groups and 1:1 sessions where you will support the pupils with specific areas of their learning, with a particular focus on English and Maths. For GCSE students, you may be supporting them in their GCSE subjects also.

The Role

• Full time work starting in ASAP until the end of the academic year, potentially longer depending on funding
• Working 1-2-1 with pupils who need additional support outside of lessons
• Work with the Class Teacher to identify different methods to help the pupil and implement these in smaller group sessions
• Leading interventions with pupils where you work with them to complete the work assigned by the Teacher outside of the classroom
• Reading and scribing for pupils when they have assessments and exams
• Work with pupils across both Key Stage 3 and 4

The Candidate

• Learning Support Assistant qualification preferred
• Experience working with SEND pupils essential
• Background in education would be ideal
• Willing to work with the SENCO and external agencies to support the pupil
• Tutoring experience preferred but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
