Job description

An SEMH school in Christchurch is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner with Animal Care Experience to start on a full time basis after the Easter Half Term.

The school has 65 pupils ranging from 6 – 16  years old with social, emotional, and mental health barriers to learning (SEMH).  All pupils have a EHCP and are provided with bespoke therapeutic and pastoral support, lessons targeted to their development rather than age and lots of additional and exciting activities e.g., skiing and surfing.

The school is looking for:

  • A passionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant who has experience supporting challenging behaviours and deescalating difficult situations in vulnerable or challenged young people.
  • Experience of teaching an animal care vocational qualification Entry 3 or Level 1, or any experience of vocational courses with an interest in animals.
  • A good understanding of the needs of children with Autism and other complex SEND and SEMH needs

Previous experience within an education based setting is desired however if you have worked in the care industry or similar field where experience with special needs has been gained then you are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
