Job description

The role

The school are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant who will work in the small classes and also on a 1-1 basis. You will be supporting the students in their lessons and ensuring they are reaching their full potential. You will also be expected to support the students emotional wellbeing as well as academically. 

The school

This SEMH provision is based on a beautiful farm and even has its own farmyard animals which the school incorporate into the curriculum. This SEHM school specialises in working with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health barriers to learning. Children will require an EHCP to be referred to the school and referrals are usually made through the Local Authority. The school prioritise the wellbeing and mental health of all learners and adopt a curriculum that mirrors the national curriculum whilst ensuring opportunities for therapeutic support. Class sizes are small with a ratio of 8 – 10 children with 2 staff members, each child’s learning journey is very personalised and allows for an individual and holistic curriculum for all learners.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working in a school/alternative provision/SEN setting
  • Be confident working with pupils who have SEMH and challenging behaviour 
  • Have an interest in education and be passionate about making a positive impact on the students' lives
  • Not be afraid to get stuck in!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
