Learning Mentor- Wigan

Learning Mentors required for a high achieving college in Wigan.

Teaching Personnel are working in close partnership with a college situated in Wigan to recruit for a Learning Mentor to start from April 2018. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Learning Mentor to join a supportive college and make a difference to the lives of their pupils.

Due to an upcoming gap within their support department, the Assistant Vice Principal is seeking an experienced Learning Mentor to join their team until the end of the academic year initially. Further, due to our ongoing partnership with the college, there is the possibility of a fixed-term/permanent contract being offered after the initial supply period.

  • Full time Learning Mentor position
  • Supporting students with Special Educational Needs
  • High achieving college
  • Required to start after the Easter holidays

Our partner college has a large support department with current Learning Mentors working with their students to help them overcome their barriers to learning and deal with all special educational needs matters. This takes places both on a 1-to-1 basis in class and with small groups within the SEN unit. As the incoming Learning Mentor, you will also have to be sensitive and be able to deal with any psychosocial concerns of the pupils.

It is located on the outskirts of Wigan town centre with excellent accessibility to the surrounding areas via the nearby motorways. It is only a short drive away from the areas of Orrell, Chorley and St Helens.

The Assistant Vice Principal is looking to meet with suitable candidates at the earliest convenience. To be considered for this position, please send your full CV to Paul via the link below. Alternatively to find out further information, please contact the Manchester West Secondary branch directly.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
