Large Blackburn Primary School require Year 6 TA

Date posted : 12/10/18
£9 - £10 per hour + CPD

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

A large school in the heart of Blackburn, not far from the town centre have approached Teaching Personnel in order to appoint a Teaching Assistant who can work in Year 6 for the foreseeable future. The SENCO who deals with any TA staff in school spoke with me yesterday to give me a full specification for the role. The applying candidates will need to have prior experience in KS2 especially in a primary mainstream school; however we are still keen to shortlist candidates who have experience in KS2 classes in SEN schools. The SENCO noted that the applying candidates will need to be qualified with a Level 2 in Teaching and Learning in Schools or above and be available to undertake a full time role. The working hours will be 0845-1530 and you will be paid for 30 hours in the working week. This may include some welfare cover especially at break and lunchtime.

The school does have a mixed catchment area and the majority of children are from White British backgrounds. The local area around the school would be considered as socially deprived, mainly with children from 'challenging' backgrounds. With this, there is a high need in school and pupil premium funding is higher than the National Average. As for behaviour, the school are keen to implement a firm but fair behaviour policy! The school have successfully used this policy over the past two years and the Head teacher in school is proud to say all the children in the school are happy and stimulated in their learning.

As part of the role, you will be expected to work with small groups and individual children in the Year 6 class. This will involve working carefully with the class teacher and possibly the SENCO to plan and deliver high quality lesson support. This may include working in and out of the classroom setting so be prepared to use your own initiative and be proactive in the support of different children.

Please contact the office if you would like further information on the school's location or equally so if you would like to apply for the role. The office are currently receiving a good number of temporary positions across the local area; so be prepared to learn more about these roles if you ring the office.
