Are you an enthusiastic, creative and caring individual?
Are you looking to support children with additional needs and challenging behaviour?
Are you confident working on a 1:1 basis?
A specialised education provision in High Wycombe that caters for secondary aged students are looking for learning mentors to join them on a full time basis. You will be supporting pupils who are no longer able to attend their previous special school. Pupils at the school have a variety of additional needs, mainly Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and challenging behaviour, as well as Severe Learning Difficulties, Autism and Down's Syndrome. The school was graded 'Good' overall in their 2014 Ofsted inspection and 'Outstanding' in the area of Behaviour and Safety of Pupils.
The school can offer:
- Competitive rates of pay
- A safe and stimulating environment
- A supportive staff team and a strong training programme
The successful candidate will be:
- Enthusiastic, creative and caring
- Confident working on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis
- Flexible and adaptable
- Able to work well in stressful situations
Hours: 8.30 am - 4 pm, Monday to Friday
Students at the school require an eclectic approach to manage their educational and behavioural needs and each student will have an allocated learning mentor on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis.
As well as delivering a personalised curriculum to your allocated student, you will be required to help them make short trips out into the community on work experience trips. The curriculum is tailored to each student's individual and specific needs so the school day will include core subjects such as English, Science and Maths as well as Food Tech, PE, Music and other creative subjects. An interest in these areas would work well at the school.
Experience in a school or care setting is an advantage, though the right attitude and personality is more important than formal qualifications.
To apply, please send your CV or call 0118 3271595 for further information - I look forward to hearing from you!
