KS1 Teaching Assistant Job
30 hours KS1 Teaching Assistant role
Supporting children on a 1:1 and grouped basis
Prior experiences working alongside the KS1 curriculum is important
A school on the outskirts of Blackburn BB2, are seeking to appoint a temporary member of staff to work in the KS1 department, supporting the needs of children aged 5 to 7 years. The classes contain a standard thirty, with additional needs such as speech and language needs and children early on the Autism spectrum. The school will be looking to appoint a TA to work 30 hours a week under the leadership of the KS1 co-ordinator and class teachers. The Head teacher is also very involved in the daily running of the classes and so you will have the opportunity to work closely with a number of Senior Leaders across school. The SENCO is also involved in the settling of new children arriving into school and working through the KS1 classes. As there is plenty of SLT involvement, the children settle quickly and get into a good working routine straight away. It is your job to continue this through the academic year and support the class teacher to ensure all the children are able to meet expected progress.
You will be given a number of children to work closely with on a day to day basis, ensuring they are able to access Reading and Writing activities as well as Mathematics lesson content. The school is keen to develop relationships with the families of the children due to the social backgrounds they arrive from. With this, in early September, the class teachers host a come and see event after school; this is the opportunity for the school to open their doors to the parents and children to allow them to come in and get a feel for the unit and the staff. This is a great opportunity for you to mix with the parents and introduce yourself as the new teaching assistant working alongside their children.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Level 2 or above/equivalent teaching assistant qualification and have recent experience working in KS1 classes. The school have asked for candidates to apply who potentially have experience working alongside children with speech and language needs and definitely alongside children with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
In order to find out more with regards to this role then please contact me in the office. I am happy to talk more about the school and the local catchment area. The School has worked for a number of years with Teaching Personnel and continues to appoint staff initially through a supply contract and then through a permanent contract with the school.
