Job description

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children’s learning and helping them achieve their full potential in a warm, nurturing environment.

KS1 Teaching Assistant – Job Advert

Position: Key Stage 1 (KS1) Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time
Location: Colne
Start Date: Monday 1st September 2026
Salary: £14.30 - £15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective support to the class teacher in delivering high‑quality learning.
  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils to reinforce teaching and facilitate progress.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of learning activities.
  • Support children with reading, writing, phonics and early maths skills.
  • Help create a positive, engaging and purposeful classroom environment.
  • Promote good behaviour and act as a positive role model.
  • Contribute to the welfare, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all pupils.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience working with children in an educational setting (school-based experience is desirable).
  • Are patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting young learners.
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Have good communication skills and a flexible, proactive approach.
  • Are able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Hold (or are willing to work towards) relevant TA qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
