Higher Level teaching assistant - September start in a large Rochdale based secondary school.

Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for a role with extra responsibility in September? Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an Ofsted graded good school in Rochdale, due to a maternity leave within their staff team, they have a requirement in September for a full time Higher Level teaching assistant (HLTA).

Ideally you'll have experience working within the core subjects (particularly Maths and Science) as this position will have a wide range of responsibilities including;

  • Supporting teachers during lessons, leading small groups
  • Planning work for children on a 1:1 basis within under achieving subjects
  • Covering lessons (pre-planned) in the absence of class teachers
  • Teamteaching and following schemes of work within the core subjects
  • Effectively implementing the schools behaviour policy

Situated in Rochdale, this is a large mixed secondary school which serves a majority white British catchment area, the number of children eligible for free school meals and those who speak English as a second language falls below the national averages. The school was inspected in 2017 and received a "good" Ofsted report, including behaviour of pupils and leadership/management. Facilities in school are modern and classrooms have up to date resources, enabling teaching of the highest standard. Location wise, the school connects to the M62 at Junction 20 and is on the border with Oldham via Royton and also Middleton.

Due to a maternity leave, the school require a Higher Level teaching assistant on a full time basis. This will be temporary initially until early 2019 , dependant on staffing and any changes there is an opportunity for this to extend for the full academic year. To be considered you'll need to have sufficient qualifications as a teaching assistant, or if you are a qualified teacher looking for a role with less responsibility in a great school, this could be suitable for you.

Please apply now for consideration, submit a CV via the "apply now" link to this advert or call Miles in the Teaching Personnel Manchester Secondary Branch for any more information.
