Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Key Stage 1

West End, Southampton | Full-time & Part-time opportunities available

We’re seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support Key Stage 1 pupils in our friendly West End, Southampton schools. If you’re passionate about inspiring young learners and helping them reach their potential, we’d love to hear from you.

What we’re looking for:

• A qualified HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant with a Level 4 (or equivalent) qualification
• Experience working within Key Stage 1, supporting both academic and emotional development
• Confidence in delivering pre-planned lessons and leading small group or whole-class activities
• Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum, including early phonics and numeracy strategies
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• A caring and patient approach with the ability to motivate and inspire young learners
• Reliable, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with staff, pupils, and parents

About the role:

• Support class teachers in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions to boost pupil progress
• Lead pre-prepared lessons when required, maintaining continuity of learning
• Assist with planning, assessment, and classroom organisation
• Encourage curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning
• Work collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders to help every child thrive
