SEN Teaching Assistant – Darwen (Mornings Only)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Darwen on an agency basis. This role is mornings only, from 8:20am to 12:30pm, and is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning and develop social, emotional, and communication skills in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN
-
Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials where needed
-
Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
-
Support the development of pupils’ social and emotional skills
-
Manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies

Help to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

Record and report pupil progress and any concerns to teaching staff or the SENCO
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
-
A patient, caring, and resilient approach
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
-
A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
