Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Blandford Forum
Are you a confident and experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in your career? A welcoming and inclusive school in Blandford Forum is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team in September 2025.
This part-time role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting both teaching staff and students across the school. You will be responsible for leading small group sessions, delivering pre-prepared lessons, and providing targeted support to pupils with a variety of learning and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting and delivering planned lessons under the guidance of teachers

Working with individuals and small groups of pupils with SEN
-
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and wellbeing
-
Assisting with classroom management and differentiated instruction
-
Collaborating with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
We’re Looking For:

HLTA status or significant experience in a TA role with leadership responsibilities

Experience working with children or young people with SEN
-
Strong communication and organisational skills
-
A calm, adaptable, and patient approach

Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional development
