Head of Music required from January '19 for "Good" Chichester School!

This School are looking to appoint an outstanding and driven middle leader with a proven track record to lead a successful and established Music faculty. The School say... "..Music is an extremely popular Subject, overseen by an established and highly effective Faculty. Music is taught across the age ranges in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, as our large mixed Secondary has a successful Sixth Form. The right candidate will have specific responsibility for the continuing progress and attainment of students in Music, and will oversee curriculum change and development where necessary."

The Academy is a popular mixed Secondary, located close to the Cathedral City centre of Chichester, and boasting excellent transport links. The School focuses on the outcomes of each Student, offering excellent facilities and "Good" (in all areas) teaching. The Senior Leadership team are well established and supportive, continually driving development and encouraging the sharing of best practice. The School will expect you to manage and continue develop a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum in the different aspects of study within this faculty, which is in keeping with the Academy's aims for our pupils.

Person Specification;

  • You must be an outstanding practitioner with an established track record of delivering outstanding pupil progress in the classes they teach and in leading teachers.
  • Some leadership experience is desirable but not essential - as a 2i/c or another leadership role within a school where you have managed a team is preferable.
  • The successful candidate will be well qualified with outstanding subject knowledge.
  • The candidate must be a compelling communicator with an ability to champion the subject to pupils with a
    range of abilities.
