Graduate Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting a Graduate Teaching assistant on behalf of a Primary specialist SEN school for young people with a range of special educational needs. This position is due to begin after the schools reopen fully and will be five days work, six hours per day until the end of the academic year. The school is based in Chatham and is easily accessible by both public transport and car.

This school is a provision that caters for young people with a range of special educational needs such as, Autism spectrum condition, Profound and multiple learning difficulties, and Severe learning difficulties. The school provides a fantastic education environment, which allows the young people to make significant strides in their personal and academic development. The school is also held in high regard for the support provided, primarily by the senior leadership team. This really would be a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Teaching assistant hoping to go onto their Teacher training in the near future.

The ideal Teaching assistant for this Medway school will have the below experience:

Specialist school experience
Substantial mainstream primary school experience- specialising in supporting children with additional needs
Experience/willingness to support with personal care
Prior experience using PEC’s or additional methods of communication
Specialist training will enhance your application, i.e. Team- teach training, Moving and handling training, Peg feeding training
A DBS registered on the update service (Teaching Personnel can provide if not)
The school have stated that they will also accept applicants who are caring, friendly and patient as long as they have a willingness to learn and the desire to attend relevant training courses.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
