Graduate Teaching Assistant/Future Teacher (Newport)

One of our fast expanding Primary schools located in Newport are looking to appoint a graduate who would potentially look to take on a career as a teacher. The school are looking for a candidate with a degree in one of the following: English, Maths, History, Geography, Psychology, Arts, Drama, Sports. Knowledge of the Welsh language would be highly beneficial though not essential.

The role:

You would be working within a supportive, experienced and friendly team across all key stages of the Primary curriculum (Nursery to Year 6). Your main role will be to provide general support to the classroom teacher(s) along with helping children in a one-to-one setting for children with learning difficulties and/or small group intervention. Your role will be very versatile and therefore ideal for someone who is willing to learn extensively. You would be working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4pm. This is a long term position with a strong opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate :

You will have graduated within the past two years with an Education related degree and/or a specialism in English (or Welsh), Maths, History, Geography, Psychology, Arts, Drama, Sports. You must an enthusiastic, driven, friendly individual with a strong sense of humour. A compassionate and empathetic approach to teaching is a must, with a strong will to make a daily difference to children's learning. You should either wish to pursue a career as a teacher or as a learning support assistant working directly with children with Special Educational Needs.

Applicants must :

- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Be
living in Newport and/or have plans to move to Newport in the near future and/or be willing to travel to Newport
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Provide two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start within the next two weeks

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
