Salary: GBP65 – 80 per day dependant on experience/training

Contract type: Full Time

Contract term: Temporary with permanent opportunities available

Required for: October 2020 – July 2021 minimally

Location: Twickenham, Richmond

Also suitable for: confident individuals with 1:1 special needs/care experience

About the Job:

This special school in Richmond are seeking confident graduates with 1:1 special needs (SEN) experience to work across their primary and secondary departments. They are seeking graduates who will be able to support with academic progress alongside the special care required for their pupils.

Pupils within the school are all diagnosed with a special educational need and will have an education, health and care plan. Each pupil will have an individual learning and therapy programme which the successful applicant will implement daily.

Having confidence with these needs and being open to additionally supporting with personal care or moving and handling will be vital.

About the Special School (Twickenham)

This Special School in Twickenham is in the London Borough of Richmond and is part of trust of 3 special schools in the area.

This school has both a primary, secondary and post-16 department for pupils with special educational needs. Pupils have severe and complex learning difficulties including those with an additional diagnosis of autism and/or physical/sensory disabilities

  • Good with outstanding pupil behaviour by Ofsted in Feb 2019
  • Children and young people aged 4 -19 with
  • Three campuses, co located with inclusive minded local mainstream schools
  • Small class sizes
  • On-site Speech and Language, Physiotherapy, Occupational, Music and Play Therapy team, soft playroom, sensory room and outdoor learning spaces

This special school are seeking a professional who is:

  • A recent graduate with 1:1 special needs or care support experience
  • Available full-time for work in Hampton, Richmond
  • Confident using skills to work with children in special education
  • Confident in core subjects and academic support
  • Able to support with personal care (toileting), hoisting, moving and handling and/or medical administration
  • Additional experience with Makaton, visual timetables, SCERTs, Attention Autism, intensive interaction, cued articulation, TACPAC, and TEACCH is highly beneficial
