Graduate Programme - Future Teachers-Newcastle

Are you graduating this summer and struggling to find a graduate scheme to suit your prospects and skillset? Have you been considering a career in teaching but feel that you require more experience working with young people?

Teaching Personnel is working with a number of schools across Tyne and Wear to run the 'Future Teachers' programme, which is designed to practical experience for graduates considering a career in education . In this programme, you are able to take on a year's placement as a teaching assistant to gain a clear insight into the responsibilities and routine of a teacher. This is an excellent paid opportunity to develop you professionally prior to formal teacher training.

How the scheme works:

  • Graduates will work as a teaching assistant on a year-long contract in a reputable secondary school, commencing in September 2019
  • Candidates are able to take on that emulate what they can expect in a typical day of teaching , including supporting students on a 1:1 basis, working with various departments to assist with students' learning and engagement during lessons
  • At the end of their placement, graduates who have demonstrated an aptitude for teaching will be offered a position on a leading teacher training programme within that school

The benefits of the scheme:

  • As a graduate on the 'Future Teachers' programme, you have the opportunity to experience teaching without immediately committing to formal training
  • Opportunity for paid training in a highly-reputable school, with support from teachers who have long-established their careers

To be eligible for this scheme, you must be educated to degree level or have completed your degree by summer 2019. We welcome applications from graduates of all subject specialisms, including: English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, MFL and PE.

You must also demonstrate a keen interest towards a career in education, as this is a scheme with limited positions.
