Looking for a new role in the local area?

Here is the role -

A large Primary School located in the Darwen area, with over 200 children on roll, are seeking to appoint a teaching and learning support assistant to work alongside two children who require additional support in the class room. The two children in question are thought to be working at Year 1 level despite working in the Year 4 class. It is essential that both children are given 2:1 support and given the best opportunity to progress in school.

The class teacher has already identified these children as potentials who could struggle to make adequate progress in the Key Stage 2 year groups. Both children are struggling to also build relationships with the other children and have become slightly isolated. It will be the role of the new teaching assistant to come in, boost confidence and extend learning opportunities. It is therefore important that the applying candidates are able to do this, through quality relationship building and patience.

The role will be to start from October 7th beginning the working day from 0845 and ending at 1530 (the working hours will include 30 minutes unpaid lunch and 30 mins paid welfare cover) The expectation is that the successful candidate will continue in this role until the school don't require any further support for the two children. This is expected to be from Year 4 to the end of Year 6.

In order to meet the recruitment criteria, initially you must be available to start the role from the first week in October. Additionally you must be willing to meet with the Head teacher and offer a morning or afternoon on a trial basis. This will allow you to gain a better idea of how the school works and whether you will definitely be suitable for the advertised role. As the children are in desperate need for continuity it is also important that you can commit to this long term/temp to perm role. The Head teacher has already mentioned that she wouldn't want to appoint somebody and then have to change personnel half way through the year.

For more information, contact me in the office! I will be keen to tell you more about the role and how you can apply.
