Our client secondary school in the Wythenshawe area of south Manchester is looking for a general teaching assistant to join their SEN department following the October half term. The successful teaching assistant will be supporting within the classroom working with all students. There is the possible opportunity to start at the school sooner supporting the new cohort of year 7s prior to the October half term.

As a mainstream secondary school, there are a variety of students that have low level special educational needs such as Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), ADHD and SEMH. Any prior experience of working with students who have these needs would be an advantage and highly desirable.

Highlights of this teaching assistant position:

  • Pay will be dependent upon experience, ranging between £285 -£350 per week
  • Full time and part time opportunities available dependent upon the successful TAs availability
  • Co-educational, reputable and highly supportive secondary school located in the Wythenshawe area of South Manchester
  • General classroom teaching assistant role supporting students in a variety of capacities
  • Opportunity to work with students with various SEN: ADHD, MLD and SEMH

As a general teaching assistant, you will support within the classroom but also assist students in small groups given the relevant needs. The successful teaching assistant may also have the opportunity to support students who are gifted and talented, stretching and challenging them further. Therefore, if you have a particular specialism or subject flare, then make this known on your application.

The school is situated in the Wythenshawe area close to Manchester Airport making it very easy to access for any prospective teaching assistant. The school is an average sized school with approximately 1100 students with a highly supportive senior leadership team. Teachers and students know each other well with all members of staff being treated fairly and supported equally.

  • Work alongside the full class teacher, learning and gaining further experience from supporting
  • Regular CPD opportunities through National Teaching Schools
  • Must have relevant experience supporting secondary school aged pupils
