Future Teachers Programme

Location: South Manchester (Didsbury, Chorlton, Withington, Burnage, Trafford)
Start Date: After the February half-term or September 2026

About the Future Teachers Programme:

Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit graduates to join the Future Teachers Programme. Our mission is to identify aspiring teachers, provide paid in‑school experience, and nurture their development through structured support, preparing them for a teacher training route such as PGCE, SCITT or School Direct. This programme is designed for graduates who want to gain valuable classroom experience in secondary schools before progressing onto formal teacher training.

  • Clear pathway: begin in an educational support (teaching assistant) role and progress onto a teacher training programme for the right graduate

The Role:

You will work across one or more secondary schools in South Manchester, supporting students aged 11–16 while building the essential skills needed to step confidently into teacher training.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in lessons and small group interventions
  • Delivering pre‑planned lessons as a Cover Supervisor (training provided)
  • Assisting teachers with classroom management and learning activities
  • Gaining experience with behaviour strategies and pastoral support
  • Working alongside experienced teachers and senior leaders
  • Building experience relevant to PGCE and teacher training applications

We’re looking for graduates who:

  • Hold a degree in any subject (core and non‑core subjects welcome)
  • Are motivated, confident and passionate about education
  • Are considering a future in teaching or school‑based training
  • Can commit to a full‑time role during term time
  • Are enthusiastic about supporting young people in a secondary school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
