Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant – Blackburn
Location: Blackburn
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Blackburn. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is non-verbal and has high Special Educational Needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the child's learning, communication, emotional wellbeing, and daily care within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Support a non-verbal child with ASD to access learning and engage in classroom activities.
- Deliver personal care with dignity, sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans.
- Promote communication using appropriate strategies and resources.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider multidisciplinary team to meet the child's individual needs.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, and complex Special Educational Needs.
- Experience working with non-verbal children.
- Confidence and willingness to provide personal care.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
