SEND Teaching Assistant Job - Blackburn Primary School

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a primary school setting? We are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Blackburn, supporting pupils within the school's resource provision.

This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND within the resource provision.
Assist with the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions.
Work on a one-to-one basis and with small groups of pupils.
Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
Collaborate closely with teachers, SENDCOs, and support staff.
Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar.
Experience supporting children with additional learning needs.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
