Teaching Personnel are supporting a specialist alternative education provider across Nottingham City and South Nottinghamshire. The students present with behavioural challenges, SEMH, additional learning difficulties and are working at low levels. The school offer qualifications from Entry Level to GCSE, Functional Skills and Vocational Subjects. All students are disengaged from mainstream education and need 1-2-1 support to guide them through education.

We are looking to recruit a FULL-TIME PERMANENT Teaching Assistant/Behaviour Mentor who specialises in assisting and tutoring students 1-2-1 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties - this may be from experience gained in mainstream schools or Pupil Referral Units/Secure Units/Alternative Provisions. The successful applicant needs to hold a UK driving licence and have access to a car as you may need to transport the student to and from the tuition location (travel expenses will be paid).

The role is to start from 16th April 2018, pending a successful interview. If successful a full week induction will be provided.

We are looking to recruit someone who has experience working in support worker or youth worker roles. Ideally you will have excellent behaviour management and the ability to build a strong rapport with your students. Additional behaviour training is desirable but NOT essential as Teaching Personnel can provide you with Team Teach behaviour training as part of your CPD.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

o Minimum 1 year experience working with disengaged and SEMH children and young people either in education or health care settings.

o Confidence to work on your own initiative, as well as contributing to a team.

o Good understanding of the National Curriculum at a primary and/or secondary level.

o Confidence to manage challenging behaviour and re-engage students who are disaffected and not currently engaged in their education.

o Ability to work 1:1 with particular students, creating a strong relationships.

o Have a UK driving licence and have access to a car.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
