Faith School require part time Teaching Assistant - Blackburn Primary

Experience in KS2 is essential

Upholding the Christian ethos in school is also essential

Currently graded as a GOOD school by Ofsted and OUTSTANDING by SIAMS

A small school located on the boundary of Blackburn and Darwen have approached Teaching Personnel in order to source a part time Teaching Assistant who can work across a number of year groups in school supporting groups of children. The role will commence from the first week back after February half term and continue for the remainder of the academic year. The school is small in size and has a very close knit relationship with the community and the children who arrive in school. The Head teacher is very passionate about her children and has gone above and beyond to ensure all the children are meeting their expected levels. The school is graded GOOD by Ofsted and also holds a positive Christian focused inspection. The children are generally well behaved in school and the staff ensure this continues through the working day by structuring behaviour around the traffic light policy used across school.

The role will be a flexible one which will work from 0915-1300 every day in the week. During this time you will be expected to work alongside groups of children who are falling behind age related levels and also the children who need pushing to work beyond expected levels. This will be a varied role which will be paid at L2 rate, it is therefore important that you hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent. You must also have at least three months experience working in a school setting either in KS1 or KS2. The Head teacher also specified that the applying candidates will need to be 'thick skinned' as, despite the majority of children being well behaved, there is a minority who require additional support with behaviour.

It is also important that the applying candidates are flexible with the working hours in school as the Business Manager did mention that these could increase after the first couple of weeks. The process will be reasonably relaxed, usually consisting of a 10-15 minute interview where the Head teacher will ask questions about your experience, personality and understanding of safeguarding. The expected pay for this role will be £9 per hour. There are 3.75 hours in total per day so over the working week you will have worked 18.75 paid hours. There may also be opportunities to extend the working hours depending on the need s in school. The Business Manager has commented and said there may be other full time opportunities in February due to a maternity and planned absence.
