SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working with a welcoming and well-established specialist education setting in Bury to recruit a nurturing and proactive Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning and thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

You will work closely with teaching and senior staff to provide classroom support, assist with behaviour management, and contribute to a safe and engaging learning atmosphere. The role includes supporting both individuals and small groups, inside and outside the main classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

About You

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
