Experienced PRU Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start | South Wales
£89–£105 per day | South Wales | Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) | Long-Term & Ongoing

Teaching Personnel are urgently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong PRU background to join one of our partner schools. This role is perfect for someone who has already worked in a Pupil Referral Unit or similar setting, and who understands the challenges and rewards of working with pupils who display SEMH, behavioural difficulties, and additional learning needs.
About the Role:

Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis within a PRU setting.

De-escalate challenging situations and use proven behaviour management strategies to keep pupils safe and focused.

Act as a positive role model for pupils, building trust and strong relationships.

Assist teachers in planning and delivering tailored activities that engage and motivate learners who may not thrive in mainstream education.

Provide emotional support and guidance to help pupils regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.
Who We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in a PRU base or alternative provision setting.

Confidence and resilience to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively.

A strong personality, but with empathy and patience to connect with pupils.

The ability to set firm boundaries while still creating a safe, supportive space for learning.

A natural ability to stay calm, think fast, and make the right decisions under pressure.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
