We are looking for an English tutor to work directly with a KS3 student to support them in meeting the same academic criteria to their peers. The role involves encouraging a pupil outside of the typical classroom and mainstream settings, in informative and engaging 1:1 session in the pupil’s home.

The role is based around Northampton and the surrounding areas.

What to expect from this English tutor role?

  • You will be planning resources around the child’s needs as this could be likely on developing their knowledge prior to any end of term examinations.
  • Resourcing engaging and creative lessons to get pupils back up to speed in their learning.
  • Being able to manage and implement different behaviour strategies and coping mechanisms would be desirable in this role as the pupil will likely have behaviour needs that need to be met.

What are we looking for in an English tutor?

  • English specialist or the experience and knowledge of teaching the subject.
  • Have experience working with children or young people.
  • Range of behaviour management and coping mechanism.
  • Able to plan and deliver core and cross-curricular engaging sessions.
  • Applying skills to get pupils education back up to speed.
  • Checking that pupils are on track to achieve their desired learning outcomes and being able to provide feedback.
  • Desirable - SEN experience

  • Online classroom platform- to enable you to deliver online tuition to students in a virtual environment. This platform offers all the tools you will require to deliver online tuition and is recorded for safeguarding purposes and for revision purposes.
  • Hourly rate of £25- £30 which is paid weekly
  • Access to free safeguarding and CPD courses as well as free access to assessment tools and resources.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
