Job description

English Teacher – Full Time | Secondary School | Birmingham | Sept–Dec

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join a thriving large secondary school in East Birmingham for the autumn term. The school has a collaborative, supportive staff team and is proud of its inclusive ethos. This full-time role runs from September to December and includes full teaching responsibilities – planning, preparation, delivery, and assessment. You’ll need to be confident leading a classroom and skilled at managing challenging behaviour while keeping students engaged and motivated.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Prepare students for assessments and exams, tracking and supporting their progress
  • Create a positive classroom environment that inspires a love of literature and language
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards across the department

What we’re looking for:

  • Fully Qualified Teacher with QTS
  • Proven track record of successfully teaching English in a secondary school
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English language and literature
  • Confident classroom presence and effective behaviour management skills
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to inspire students of all abilities

Contract: Full time | September start | Ends December (end of term)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
