Job Title: Full-Time English Teacher
Location: B36 Area, Birmingham

Salary: Paid to Scale (MPS/UPS)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Key Stages: KS3 & KS4 (KS5 desirable)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a thriving, mainstream secondary school in the B36 area of Birmingham, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a committed and collaborative English department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, challenging and well-structured English lessons in line with the UK national curriculum, across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to teach A-Level English is a significant advantage, although not essential.

 

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons to pupils in Years 7 to 11, with the possibility of delivering KS5 lessons depending on experience.

Differentiate and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of all learners, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Employ effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a focused and positive learning environment.

Use a range of assessment tools to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.

Collaborate with colleagues in the English department and contribute to the wider school community.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reporting and parent evenings as required.

Person Specification

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

A degree in English or a related subject.

Proven experience of teaching English at KS3 and KS4 in a secondary school setting.

Strong behaviour management skills with a proactive and positive approach.

Experience in adapting lessons for students with a range of additional needs.

Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

Experience teaching A-Level English Language and/or Literature.

Familiarity with SEND strategies and personalised learning approaches.
