English teacher – Wandsworth

A Catholic school in Wandsworth is currently looking to hire an English teacher to work on a full time basis. The position will be starting from January as maternity cover, till the end of the academic year and potentially beyond September 2020. The school in question has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted after a recent inspection towards the end of 2018.

The Catholic school based in Wandsworth is part of Teaching Personnel’s recruitment partnership with the Southwark Diocese. A Service Level Agreement has been signed between Teaching Personnel and the Southwark Diocese creating a closer working relationship with Catholic schools, offering more opportunities to teachers. The SLA is not limited to the Southwark Diocese as similar agreements have been signed with diocese around the UK.

  • English teacher required to teacher English up to key stage 5.

  • Pay scale inline with the inner London MPS/UPS pay scale; GBP33,741 to 49,571 (M3 to U3).

  • Full time maternity cover starting in January till the end of the academic year.

  • A ‘good’ Catholic school based in Wandsworth with ‘an excellent behaviour policy that enables teachers to efficient teach their innovative classes within the nation curriculum.’

 

The successful English teacher will have the following education, experience and characteristics:

  • A PGCE or QTS, specialising in English

  • Experience teaching English literature or language up to key stage 5

  • Senior Leadership a the school a looking for a teacher who can create a good rapport with students and staff

  • Willing to travel to Wandsworth on a daily basis

 

The school currently hiring in their English department has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted most notably because of their effective behaviour policy. The core subject departments have always had teachers with a strong subject knowledge but when in tandem with a good behaviour policy, it has allowed the departments to flourish receiving consistently good results (85% A*-C at GCSE).
