English Graduate Teaching Assistant - Literacy Support (Secondary School)

With so many secondary school students recently having missed out on months of education, Teaching Personnel Bristol is working with a number of our partnership Secondary schools to find passionate and enthusiastic  English Graduate Teaching Assistants for a number of Literacy Support Roles.  This role is full time and will begin September 2020. 


Weekly Pay: GBP300- GBP350 (dependant on experience)

You must be available to work normal school hours Mon - Fri (8.30 - 3.30)

About the Role:

Working as an English Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be expected to support pupils on a 1:1 and small groups basis to help them "catch up" with missed work due to school closures.  We are seeking English Graduates to provide Literacy Support, in particular for Year 7 students that will have missed out on transition support from Primary to Secondary school.

You will provide:

  • One to one specific tuition/interventions where you will utilise your subject knowledge to raise pupil attainment and literacy skills
  • SEN support where you can work alongside pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • In-class support in your specialist subject to enhance pupils learning experience
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour, engagement and progress.  

Although no teaching experience is necessary, prior experience (professional or personal) working with children is desirable.

The role requires an ambitious, resilient personality with excellent communication skills, who will work effectively within the Learning Support Team, with teachers and parents. It will involve working with mainstream students with a wide range of learning barriers, providing in class support, interventions to groups or on an individual basis to improve attainment and progress.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
