English Graduate - Teaching Assistant

** English Graduate Teaching Assistant - September Start Date **

This Rochdale based Primary school requires a Teaching Assistant with an English specialism, to join their team in September.

This is a 'smaller than average' school and has a real family feel. The widely respected head teacher has created a culture and ethos which enable staff and pupils to thrive. Pupils are confident and resilient learners and have excellent behaviour. Staff members have developed really positive relationships with the parents, who have all have positive things to say and are happy to have their children attend. They praise the positive communication which the leaders of the school have established with them.

The school is aware of areas which require improvement and are currently tackling these issues, one of these is raising in Reading. They are currently rated as 'well below average' and are keen to raise this as soon as possible. An individual with an English specialism will be required to support the Year 4 class and also lead small intervention groups during Literacy.

About the Role:

  • Work with the whole class with small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basis
  • Work with pupils in Year 4
  • Provide support to pupils with their reading and writing
  • Confidently build respectful relationships with both pupils and staff

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Will have a Degree in English
  • Graduated with a 2:1 or above
  • Be passionate about working with children
  • Be flexible and able to work with a range of age groups and abilities
  • Have a caring an nurturing approach whilst also being innovative and enthusiastic
  • Have some experience, paid or voluntary, of working with children in an educational setting

The school is easily accessible via the M60 and A671. Please apply if you meet the above criteria and are able to start in September. The role is on a full time, long term basis with the possibility to become permanent if agreed by Head teacher.
