Graduate Support Assistant (Lancaster) – Primary School Opportunities

Location: Lancaster 
Role: Graduate Learning Assistant (Primary School)
Full-time | Term-time only
Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)


Calling All Graduates!

Are you a recent graduate in Psychology, Youth Work, or a core academic subject (English, Maths, Science, etc.) looking to gain hands-on experience in education?

We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated graduates to support primary school settings across the Lancaster area, working closely with children to support their academic, social, and emotional development.

This is an excellent stepping stone for those considering careers in:

  • Teaching (PGCE / Schools Direct)
  • Educational Psychology
  • SEN / Inclusion support
  • Youth and community work

The Role

As a Graduate Learning Assistant, you will:

  • ✅ Support classroom teachers with daily learning activities
  • ✅ Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils requiring additional support
  • ✅ Assist children with learning needs, including SEND, behavioural needs, or lower attainment
  • ✅ Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and confidence
  • ✅ Help create an inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment
  • ✅ Gain valuable insight into the day-to-day life of a primary school

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from graduates who are:

  • Degree-educated (Psychology, Youth Work, Education, or core subjects preferred)
  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Keen to develop a career in education or child development
  • Interested in supporting children with additional learning or emotional needs
  • Proactive and willing to learn on the job

Previous experience working with children (schools, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work) is desirable but not essential.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two references covering the last 2 years
