SEND Teaching Assistants Needed – Primary Schools Across Lancaster| Morecambe | Carnforth | Heysham

Salary: £14.25–£15.00 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? We're recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming primary schools across Lancaster and the surrounding areas, helping pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Whether you have previous school experience or have worked in care, childcare, youth work, support work or another SEND setting, we'd love to hear from you. Your role will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs.
  • Supporting pupils in accessing the primary curriculum by adapting activities to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement within the classroom.
  • Assisting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day.
  • Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons while maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
  • Working closely with the school's SENDCO, class teachers and wider support staff to ensure every child receives the support they need.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and celebrate their achievements.

We're looking for:

  • Experience working with children with SEND (school experience is beneficial but not essential).
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed and reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
