1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in our welcoming and inclusive school. This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to help the child access learning, build confidence, and reach their full potential.

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley
Start Date: 1^st September 2026
Contract: Full-Time
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH – tailor as needed)
• Assist in delivering personalised learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Support the pupil in developing social skills and independence
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience working with children with SEN (school-based or similar setting preferred)
• Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
• Be adaptable and responsive to the individual needs of the pupil
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
