Job description

Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker looking for a rewarding new challenge in a school setting?

We are seeking caring, resilient, and dedicated individuals with a background in residential care to support children and young people within primary, secondary, and specialist schools. Your experience building positive relationships, managing challenging behaviours, and supporting vulnerable young people makes you ideally suited to helping pupils succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

As a School Support Worker, you may:

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Help children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Assist pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours positively.
  • Build trusting relationships that encourage engagement and learning.
  • Support teachers in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, confidence, and independence.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and pastoral support.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and families.

We're Looking For

  • Experience working as a Residential Support Worker, Care Worker, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or similar role.
  • A passion for supporting children and young people to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviours and supporting emotional regulation.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to different situations.
  • A genuine desire to make a positive difference in education.

Previous school experience is not essential, as full support and guidance will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
