EAL Central Manc

  • Are you passionate about working alongside young people, aiding their personal development as well as their academic attainment?
  • Do you enjoy the challenge of working with children whose primary language may not necessarily be English?

A school located close to Manchester City Centre is looking for an EAL Teaching Assistant to join the support staff team. This role presents itself as the ideal opportunity for a person who is proficient in the speaking of multiple languages, or those who hold a degree in MFL or a related subject. A relevant qualification such as TEFL/ESOL, is also exceptionally desirable . This position will focus on working in collaboration with students who do not speak English as their first language. Given that this is the case, it is important to note that the given individual will be able to:

  • Display patience and resilience – when helping those with the learning process, the required applicant will be able to show these traits to aid learning.
  • Showcase strong interpersonal skills –being able to work as part of a team, as well as holding solid interpersonal skills is imperative.
  • Use a unique approach – being able to independently apply unique strategies to aid learning is of high importance.

Furthermore, key aspects of this role include:

  • Supporting teaching staff in the preparation of suitable educational material, and ensuring that these resources are appropriate based on the needs of specific individuals.
  • Helping pupils within the classroom, as well as working on both a 1:1 basis as well as with groups.
  • Understanding the complexities often faced by students who require EAL support, and being able to offer alternatives to benefit overall attainment.
  • Working in line with school policy, as well as being able to work to specific recommendations by Ofsted.
  • Pay - GBP275-GBP350 per week, based on previous experience.
