A large Secondary Academy in Leeds are currently seeking a TEFL trained Support Assistant to work 1:1 with their EAL students. This would involve completing language based activities, supporting with academic work and also providing pastoral support to help the students integrate into the whole school community. The majority of the students you would be working with are originally from Eastern Europe and speak Hungarian/Polish/Russian/Slovak and Czech as their first language, and knowledge of any of these languages would be preferential however is not essential as experience of working with EAL students and developing their English skills is the main focus. The role would be to start ASAP and could run until the end of the academic year.
The school is based just South of the city centre in the Beeston/Hunslet area. There is a regular bus service from Leeds City centre is you would be traveling on public transport.
The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic, adaptable, able to quickly build rapport with and support vulnerable students. If you have worked abroad and gained a TEFL qualification, or have experience of supporting EAL students previously within the UK you could be ideally suited to this role. Pay rates are between £50-£70 per day depending on experience, all candidates are subject to full vetting and reference checks.
