Cover Supervisor – Oldham

Full time Cover Supervisor required for a large secondary academy in Oldham.

Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside one of our partner schools in Oldham who are seeking to appoint a full time Cover Supervisor from January 2020. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor to obtain a full time role, as well as those looking at taking their first steps into a career in education. Initially on a fixed term contact until the end of the academic year, this is an introduction to a permanent post.

  • Full time Cover Supervisor role from January 2020
  • Fixed term contract until the end of the academic year (July 2020)
  • Introduction to a permanent post for the perfect candidate
  • Large and oversubscribed secondary academy in Oldham
  • Covering a range of subjects across both KS3 and KS4
  • Earn up to GBP1300 per month (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Our partner secondary school is located just a short drive from Oldham town centre and is the school of choice for over 1300 students from the surrounding areas of Springhead and Lees. The academy first opened in 2010 and in recent years has been identified as one of the most improved academies in the country. The state of the art campus opened in 2012, with the academy originally opening following the closure of 2 local secondary schools.

“We are seeking to appoint a full time Cover Supervisor to support staff absences across the school from January 2020. We strive to create a caring and supportive environment for all of our students, providing them with an excellent learning environment where they can flourish and become the best young adults possible.” Headteacher.

This exciting role as a full time Cover Supervisor will involve:

  • Providing classroom management of students in the absence of a teaching member of staff. 
  • To liaise with appropriate Heads of Department on work to be set for classes and on any behavioural matters.
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teachers’ lesson plans.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are completing work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Deal with any immediate problems according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Report, as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
  • Registering attendance in accordance with school policy.
