Teaching Personnel work in partnership with a coeducational school located in Sturminster Newton, catering for pupils aged 4-19, graded ‘GOOD’ in all areas by Ofsted at their most recent inspection.  The school are working with Teaching Personnel to build up a pool of Cover Supervisors to assist with daily cover needs within their secondary school.  As lessons are planned so thoroughly in the absence of usual class teachers, it is the preference of the school to cover leaves of absence with cover supervisors rather than fully qualified teachers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for educators with a range of experience to secure regular work with a local school, providing opportunity to familiarise yourself with staff and pupils of the school.  Working as a cover supervisor, you will be supervising classes during the absence of a teacher, providing short term cover, and helping the students with their learning assisted by well planned lessons for you to work with.  This is a great opportunity for experienced educators or graduates who are working towards a career in education to gain school-based experience on a flexible basis.

The ideal candidate:

  • A graduate seeking school-based experience before applying for a teacher training course.
  • Sports coaches who are experienced in working with young people outside of a school environment.
  • A person who may have experience within the military of prison services, working with challenging behaviour or vulnerable people.
  • An educator who may have school-based experience but no QTS or teacher qualification.
  • A teaching assistant or learning support assistant who is keen to further their experience.  Teaching Personnel can also support with this by putting you through our free online cover supervisor course.

If you do not fit any of the above criteria, but feel you have good experience and the right attitude to fulfil the role of a cover supervisor, please apply now with your CV. We work with many other schools in Winchester and surrounding areas, seeking adhoc staff to cover periods of absence.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
